Win J. DeGroot, 90, of Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2026, with family by his side.
He was born on April 30, 1935 to Art and Marion (Pigeon) DeGroot in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Green Bay East High School. He furthered his education at a vocational school to be a Carpenter. He was a talented carpenter who often blessed his family members with beautiful handcrafted furniture and toys. He also built five family homes with love.Win was always happy to help friends and family with home improvements.
Win worked for Nabisco for 31 years before his retirement. On September 6, 1961, he married Sandy Besaw. Their marriage was blessed with three children: David, Jay and Wendy. Win and Sandy were on the go having fun, eating at favorite restaurants, shopping and always bringing home toys and treats for his beloved dog, Lexi. He and Sandy enjoyed 30 years of retirement.
Win was a founding member of Magnetos Motorcycle Club for many years.
He was so loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sandy DeGroot; his children: David (Sue) DeGroot, Jay (Julie) DeGroot and Wendy DeGroot; grandchildren: Lindsay (Dorn) DeGroot, Matthew (Kayla) DeGroot, Tyler Wesolowski, Shane (Melissa) Wesolowski and Madison (Tim) DeGroot; and one great-granddaughter, Emmi DeGroot. He is further survived by his siblings: Marilyn Hermsen, Tom (Teddy) DeGroot, Jim (Jean) DeGroot and Suzanne (Mark) Deschane; and his in-laws: Mary Besaw, Mary DeGroot and Roger and Yvonne Gay.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Baby Sally, Art, and Darlene (Jerry) Gable; his brothers-in-law, Ken Hermsen and Chuck Besaw; and his Godchild, Amanda Gay.
A Memorial Service for Win will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 12 PM NOON at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, Receptions, 340 S. Monroe Ave, Green Bay, Wisconsin 54301. A time for family and friends to visit and pay respects will begin at 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
