Winifred "Winnie" Silvano

Winifred K. Silvano-also fondly known as "Winnie", 80, of Exeter, NH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, MA.
She was born on May 3, 1945, in Lynn, MA, the youngest of three children to the late John and Winifred (Killoran) Hannegan.
Winnie was raised in Lynnfield, MA, and graduated from Lynnfield High School with the Class of 1963. On September 11, 1965, she married the love of her life, Arthur Silvano, beginning a beautiful and devoted partnership that lasted 60 years. Together they built a joyful life centered around family. In 1967, they welcomed their first son, Mark, followed by David in 1969 and Greg in 1972-three boys who were the pride of Winifred's life.
While raising her children, Winnie dedicated more than 40 years to her career as a Histology Supervisor at Salem Hospital, where she was known for her strong work ethic, leadership, and friendship to colleagues. Outside of work, she had a deep love of travel and enjoyed memorable trips through Italy and France, as well as many adventures throughout New England. She was a longtime member of St. James Church, and her faith remained a steady part of her life.
Winnie will be remembered for her quick wit, her love of reading, and most of all, her deep commitment to her family. She and Arthur spent 10 happy years in Marblehead, MA, before making their home in Exeter, NH, in 2013, where they shared many cherished moments together.
Winnie is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Arthur; her son, Mark Silvano and Susan Dakin, son David Silvano and Marci, son Gregory Silvano and Kristen; her brother, David Hannegan and Julie; her sister, Elaine Pagiarulo; and her grandchildren, Michael, Michaila, Brooke, Ethan and Evan great-grandchildren, Matthew, Isla and Madeline. She is also survived by two very dear friends, Stella Dupres and Richard "Fitzie" Fitzgerald.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Winifred, and by her beloved grandson, Matthew Silvano.
A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
