Winnie Marie Manuel

Winnie Marie Breaux Manuel, age 95, of Gillis (Lake Charles) Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles, LA. Winnie was born July 23, 1928 to Eraste and Felicia Bourque Breaux.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Deo Manuel and one daughter, Arlene Emenhiser, and her parents; brothers, Wilfred Breaux, and John Breaux, baby John Breaux; sisters, Minnie Boudoin, Margie Miller, Bertha Guillory, Ollie Curlee, baby Mary Lou Breaux, one grandson, Matt Garrettson and one great granddaughter, Jennifer Fabila.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Darnell Bodin and her husband Earl; Mona Garrettson and her husband Danny; one son, Kenneth Manuel and his wife Marla; and sister Willie M. Ogea as well as six grandchildren, and several great and great great grandchildren.
Winnie was born in Kaplan, LA, but lived most of her life in Gillis LA. In early years, she worked as a bookkeeper for a department store and Calcasieu Marine National Bank in Lake Charles, LA. For the past 35 years she has owned and managed a small mobile home park and then an RV Park in Gillis LA. She loved all sorts of music (including Cajun music) as well as dancing. She was fluent in Cajun French.
A Mass celebrating the life of Winnie Manuel will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 1, 2023, at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Moss Bluff, LA. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Lake Charles, LA.
