Winnie Powers passed away on September 5, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on October 18, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Beatrice Rhodes. Winnie's life was marked by her unwavering spirit and the love that she bestowed upon everyone she met. Her kindness and generosity left a mark on her family, friends, and community.

Winnie's story is one of a life passionately lived and richly invested in the things she treasured most. Beyond her work as a hairstylist, homemaker, and Pastor's wife, Winnie's interests painted a vibrant picture of her enduring spirit. She was an avid reader who read countless books. Winnie's love of music was evident as she cherished singing with the church choir, often offering up her voice as a soloist, a testament to her deep-rooted belief and musical talent. Even as age made it harder for her to physically attend her beloved church, her community reciprocated by visiting her when she could no longer visit them. In those gatherings, Winnie's home became an extension of the church she so loved.

Winnie's legacy is beautifully reflected in her beloved family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Rebecca Henderson, and her son-in-law, W. Dale Henderson; grandsons, Christopher Henderson (Brianna Tibbet), Jordan Henderson (Megan), and Nathan Henderson; great-grandsons - Christopher Henderson, Jr., Cade Henderson, Everett Henderson, and Canaan Tibbet; several nieces and nephews, and Courtney Tibbet.

In addition to her parents, Winnie is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Alvin Powers, and her sister, Laura White.

Winnie will be remembered as a loving, faith-filled, and spirited soul. May her story encourage us to embrace life as passionately as she did, to sing a little louder, to love a little deeper, and to always hold fast to our faith. Winnie Powers has left a legacy that will echo through the generations, a melody of love and life that extends to her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Holloway Funeral Home on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., followed by a time of fellowship.
