Winship “Chip” Moody Jr. passed away suddenly on December 22, 2023. He is survived by his wife Suzanne and children Taylor (Rigel), Winship III “Trey” and Cameron, brothers Thad and Shawn, sister Kim, and several Moody cousins. He was welcomed into the Martinez family and will be missed by Papa, Rich and Michelle; he mastered the role of “FUNCLE” to Gunnar and Caden. He was predeceased by his mother Barbara LeClair Moody, father Winship Moody Sr. and mother-in-law Kathleen Martinez. Chip was born in Worcester, Massachusetts. As a high schooler, he moved to Florida where he could pursue his passion, golf, year-round. Chip graduated from the University of Florida where he met Suzanne, and his passion for the Gators began. Upon graduation, he worked as a salesperson in the specialty chemicals industry. He worked for several companies, but most recently led the salesforce at Momar, Inc. Here, he thrived – he built a team around him who became more than colleagues; they were friends. With that kind of chemistry, you can only be successful. Chip’s proudest and favorite places were alongside his children. He was their biggest cheerleader – on the baseball field, soccer field, golf course, and in the stands at lacrosse games – Chip was always there. He was so proud of the adults they have become still cheering them on with daily motivational messages. When not working, Chip enjoyed following Gators sports, golfing, fishing, and travelling. His friends were super important to him, and he enjoyed every minute with them, especially his four-legged friend, Cooper. His memory will be life lasting, and he will be desperately missed. Donations can be made to the American Stroke Association.
