Yolanda "Yolie" Donovan Obituary
Yolanda Ruth Donovan (née Cappola), affectionately known as Yolie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024, at Morton Hospital in Taunton. Born in
Quincy, Massachusetts, Yolie's life was a remarkable journey of love, kindness, and selflessness. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis L. Donovan and a devoted mother, who despite the early loss of her husband, showed incredible strength and dedication in raising her four children.
Yolie was born into the bustling Cappola family in
Quincy, MA, and attended Quincy High School. Her early years in the close-knit community shaped her into the compassionate and caring individual that everyone came to know and love. After her husband passed away in 1960, Yolie embarked on a rewarding career as a Nurse's Aide at Long Island Hospital in Boston, where she touched the lives of countless individuals with her warmth and attentive care.
Yolanda's life was enriched by her love for golf; she was an avid golfer and a familiar face at Wollaston Golf Club, Pembroke Country Club and Pine Valley Country Club. The fairways and greens were her sanctuary, where she not only honed her skills but also forged lasting friendships and shared laughter and joy with fellow golf enthusiasts.
The sudden passing of her husband left Yolie with the formidable task of raising her four young children, a challenge she embraced wholeheartedly. Her greatest accomplishment was indeed her family, and she instilled in her children the values of love, kindness, and compassion. Yolie's legacy is carried on through her beloved children: Linda Grant of Florida, Thomas Donovan of Taunton, Brian Donovan of New Hampshire, and Timothy Donovan of New Hampshire.
Family was the cornerstone of Yolie's life, and she cherished the bond she shared with her sister-in-law, Norma Cappola of Shrewsbury, the last surviving member of the Cappola family. Though she was predeceased by nine siblings, her memory lives on in the hearts of her many grandchildren, who will forever be inspired by her strength and love.
Yolanda's life was a testament to her loving nature. Her selfless spirit was evident in every aspect of her life, from the care she provided to patients during her time as a Nurses Aide to the unwavering support and guidance she offered her children. Yolie's kindness was a beacon that illuminated the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly through the countless memories she leaves behind.
As we bid farewell to Yolanda Ruth Donovan, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that truly made a difference. She will be deeply missed, but the impact she made on the world will endure. Yolie's journey on earth has concluded, but her story will be told for generations to come, as an example of a life filled with love, kindness, and selflessness.
