Zachary Meyer Cross, 29 years of age, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood on October 20, 2024.

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, and raised in Marietta, Georgia, Zachary graduated from Hillgrove High School before earning his Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania. Zach worked as a Research Technician at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and at Perelman School of Medicine Laboratory of Addiction Neuroscience, while also serving as a volunteer tutor at West Philadelphia and William L. Sayre High Schools.

At the time of his passing, Zach was a fourth-year medical student at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and was recently accepted into the NM-Q Business Research Fellowship through Northwestern. During his time at Northwestern, he was an active member of the Feinberg Student Senate and served as the Student Senate President during the 2021-2022 academic year.

Zachary was a passionate musician who was very skilled at the saxophone, an avid traveler, incredible skier, green thumb, amazing cook, computer geek, Super Smash Bros champion, and absolutely loved to laugh. He always lent a helping hand and went above and beyond to make sure his loved ones were taken care of.

Beloved son of Gladys Virginia Cross and Jeffrey Lynn Cross of Destin, Florida, and adored younger brother of Stephanie Lynn Cross of Miami, Florida. He shared the companionship of Kayla, a beloved Pomeranian mix with his sister.

Friends and family are gathering to celebrate Zachary's life on Saturday, November 2, 12:30 - 3:30pm (service of remembrance begins 1:00pm) at Fulton Street Collective, 1821 W. Hubbard St., Chicago, 60622.
