Obituary Zelda Jean Redfield
Zelda Jean (Christensen) Redfield passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family.
Jean was born to Herman and Zelda (Loveless) Christensen on October 18, 1934, in Aberdeen, Idaho. Being the 5th child, she has 4 older brothers, Jerry, Dale, Don and Bob and 3 sisters, Emma, Sue, and Carol.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She met and married George W. Redfield in Montana. With this union came 2 stepsons, William (deceased) and Ace Redfield. In 1955, they had their first daughter Cheryl Lynn and 17 months later, they had their second daughter, Donna Rae.
George was in the military and this took her from Montana to Maryland, Hawaii, Ohio and back to Maryland until his death. Feeling the need to be closer to her family, she and her daughters moved from Maryland to Idaho.
She went from going to school in a horse drawn carriage to watching men fly around in an airplane. She was also a pioneer for women's equal rights.
She worked for American Cyanamid in Maryland. She returned from Maryland to Idaho to work and retire from RT French for 32 years. In her spare time, she loved to crochet and read history books. Her greatest enjoyment was being with her family and her friends.
She is survived by her sister Sue, her daughters, Cheryl and Donna, her stepson, Ace, her 7 grandchildren, her 14 great-grandchildren and her 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded by her husband, George W. Redfield, her stepson William (Bill) Redfield, her siblings: Jerry, Dale, Don, Bob, Emma and Carol, and her parents, Herman and Zelda Christensen.
A viewing will be at the Hawker Funeral Home, in Blackfoot, Idaho, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Thomas LDS Chapel on Friday, June 27, 2025, in Thomas, Idaho, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Springfield Cemetery, following the services. The funeral service will be broadcast for those unable to attend. The link will be added to this obituary page soon.
We would like to thank the caregivers at the Willows, who showed Jean the love and compassion that she needed during her time there.
