Zella Grace Johnson

Four Oaks, NC: Mrs. Zella Grace Hudson Johnson, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by her loving family and friends.  Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church, Four Oaks, NC. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Revs. Thomas Collings and Rodney Wilson will officiate.

Mrs. Johnson was born on May 17, 1949 in Johnston County, NC to the late Edgar Royal and Clyde Rosella Lee Hudson.  She was a graduate of Meadow High School, and received her teaching degree from Campbell University and East Carolina University. Mrs. Johnson retired from Johnston County Schools as a Special Education Teacher. Following retirement she volunteered with the Guardian Ad-Litem, and BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) in Smithfield, NC.  She brought joy to her family and friends with poetry, and would always write for special occasions.   She was a dedicated member of Trinity Baptist Church in Meadow, NC. Mrs. Johnson was diagnosed with ALS in 2021, but continued to inspire those that surrounded her through her faith, and always living up to her middle name Grace. She was a loving and understanding person, and will be truly missed by all who knew her.   

Survivors include her husband of 44, years, Johnnie Lance Johnson, son, Adam Lance Johnson and wife, Jennifer; granddaughter, Kendall Elizabeth Johnson; brothers, Eddie Hudson and wife, Judy, and Mike Hudson; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:30PM-1:45PM, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church. Four Oaks, NC, and other times at the home.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorial may be made to one’s favorite charity.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care given to Mrs. Zella during this difficult time.
