Zetta Mae Dockray, a resident of Anna, Texas, passed away on March 29, 2024, at the age of 71. She was born on August 25, 1952, to Robert A. Murphy and Dora Ellen (Taylor) Murphy. Zetta was a graduate of McKinney High School, Class of 1972.
On May 12, 1979, Zetta married the love of her life, James "Doc" Dockray, in McKinney. Together, they shared a bond built on love, laughter, and countless adventures. Zetta's zest for life led to her passion for the outdoors, where she found enjoyment in camping and embraced nature's beauty. She was known for her love of singing, antiquing, and creating delicious meals in the kitchen.
However, Zetta's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Zetta was a devoted member of the Red Hat Society, the Elks Lodge of Sherman, and the Glory Rider Cowboy Church, where her voice uplifted church family.
Zetta Mae Dockray leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community.
She is survived by her beloved husband, James "Doc" Dockray of Anna, Texas; sons, Jeremy Dunn and wife, Sheena of Sherman, Texas and Josh Dunn and wife, Murphi of Anna, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Gaskill and husband, Ryan of Trenton, Texas; grandsons, Dylan Chapa of Trenton, Texas, Zane Gaskill, also of Trenton, Texas, Oaklee Rogers of Sherman, Texas, and James Dunn of Anna, Texas; granddaughters, Ivy Dunn and Stella Dunn, both of Anna, Texas; sisters, Debbie Taylor and husband, Dennis of McKinney, Texas and Mae Murphy and wife, Trish of McKinney, Texas; brother, Shane Murphy and wife, Shannon of Princeton, Texas; several nieces and nephews, numerous other loving family members and cherished friends.
Zetta was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Murphy II.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Elm Grove Cemetery in Anna, Texas for a committal service.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
