Daniel Easley Obituary

Daniel C. Easley

December 11, 2023

McLean, Virginia - Daniel Christopher Easley ("Dan" to most, but always "Danny" to his mother and sisters) passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at the age of 47 in McLean, Virginia.

Dan is survived by his sons, Owen and Nathan, his daughter, Harper, his mother, Joan, and his sisters, Allison, Angela, and Emily. He also is survived by his many nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws, friends, and loved ones.

Dan was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in political science, and received his M.A. and J.D. at George Mason University and School of Law. He loved watching sports with his son, Owen, cooking and dancing with his daughter, Harper, and laughing and being silly with his son, Nathan.

Dan's career was centered in Washington, DC, a place he felt a gravitational pull towards as a teenager and young man, and captured perfectly Dan's passion for politics and governmental work. Washington, DC is where Dan thrived and considered his home. Dan's vast professional accomplishments spanned governmental work in the U.S. House of Representatives and private sector work in regulatory, governmental, and federal affairs in the transportation and energy industries.

Dan was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His world was centered on his children, and you could always find Dan caring for and doing fun things together with Owen, Harper, and Nathan. Their favorite things were enjoying time with family at the beach in Emerald Isle, NC, following their top sports teams, fishing, singing, dancing, playing video games, and simply enjoying a lazy day at home spending time together. Dan loved to watch his kids' sports and activities, listen to music, golf, fish, and read. He was handsome, highly intellectual, and could make you laugh like no other. You could always count on Dan to tell you exactly what he was thinking. You could always count on Dan to be there for anyone that needed him. He loved his children and family fiercely.

Dan's mother and sisters will be organizing a private celebration of his life. This will be Dan's official memorial service conducted by his mother and sisters where we honor his memory with his children and with those who knew him and loved him. We will share details of his memorial service and would be grateful for you to share your memories of Dan.

Please contact his mother, Joan Easley, at [email protected] to share your memories and for more information on the memorial service and college fund.
