John Bezek Obituary

John Francis Bezek passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on the holy day of Christmas Eve, December 24th 2013. A Mass of Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at St. Mildred's Catholic Church in Swansboro, North Carolina with interment immediately following.
John was born in Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania on September 25, 1936, the son of John and Helen Bezek. John graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University. In 1963, John completed his Masters in Education also from Penn State and continued his education there, pursuing an ABD PhD in school administration. While at Penn State, John served as the President of the Symphony Orchestra and treasurer of the renowned Penn State Blue Band. John was also a member of the Phi Mu Alpha honorary music fraternity.
In 1972, John and Clara moved to North Carolina with Stackpole Components Company, where John then began a human resource consulting career dedicated to improving the lives of employees across North Carolina. John worked at Capital Associated Industries for 20 years, and retired with Clara to Emerald Isle, North Carolina in 1997. He was an active and dedicated member of St. Mildred's Catholic Church of Swansboro, North Carolina and St. Raphael's Catholic Church of Raleigh, North Carolina. John also led the building committees responsible for the construction of the current sanctuaries at both churches. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and son, and his family will miss him so very much. Heaven today is an even more beautiful place because of his presence.
John is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 50 years, Clara Bezek; daughter Trish Bezek Ashburn of Raleigh, North Carolina; and son John Bezek and wife Wendy Bohart Bezek, granddaughters Peyton Rose Bezek and Riley Ann Bezek of Huntersville, North Carolina. Also surviving are sisters Elizabeth Bezek and Joanne Patterson of Nanty Glo, Pennsylvania. John is preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Bezek, along with his sister Barbara Bezek.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the many compassionate caregivers who helped John and Clara on his final journey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mildred's Catholic Church Building Fund and United Hospice of Coastal Carolina. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home of Swansboro, North Carolina. Condolences may be left at www.jonesfh.org

Clara and family, I'm so sorry. John was a very kind and thoughtful person. I had the privilage of working with him for about 10 years at Capital Associated Ind. and getting to know you and your children. Please know you all are on my heart and in my prayers.

I had the privilege of working with John for 10 years at Capital Associated Industries. He was a great colleague and dear friend and mentor to me in my earlier years at CAI. We spent a lot of time together traveling throughout Eastern NC helping employers maintain their right to manage their businesses without third party interference. I will always cherish the memories of our many hours of working together. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family and all others that come to know and love John. May God surround you with His peace.

I will never forget the time John sat at the hospital with my mom (Sallie), my sister and myself, while waiting on news about my dad. That was the compassionate and caring man that he was to all who knew him. I had the joy of working with John a few short years before his retirement and during the time every employee at CAI felt like family. He will certainly be in good company up in Heaven. God bless you, Clara, and your entire family. Heartfelt sympathy to each of you.

My heart goes out to Clara, Trisha and Jay for their loss. John was such a wonderful person. He was a super co-worker and we shared many stories. May God bless the family.
