Jocelyn Guarisco Obituary

Jocelyn Develle Guarisco passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 with her loving family at her side. She was born in New Orleans and graduated from Holy Angels High School where she excelled on the debate team. She then completed her law degree from Loyola University of New Orleans in 1970. Jocelyn met her husband Gerald "Jerry" Guarisco through her St. Leo the Great college group in 1968 and they were married for 53 years. Jocelyn worked for the Corp of Engineers and the Department of Energy where she played a direct role with securing the Salt Domes for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). She retired in 1997, but continued to maintain her private law practice until 2016. Jocelyn was the Develle family matriarch. She knew about the history of the family and could tell you all about the lineage. She made family her business through her curiosity and concern about the lives of her family members. She had a way of keeping people connected with her great parties and was committed to spending time with the people she loved. She loved going to the casino, being with her SPR retirees and her college group. She is survived by her husband, Gerald D. Guarisco; her mother, Iris Develle; and her siblings: Louis J. Develle III (Phyllis), Mary Genovese (Terry), and Lydia Economides (George). She was a devoted Aunt/Godmother to numerous nieces, nephews, and friends and will be truly missed. The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice and Home Instead for the great care they provided. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001 on Monday, June 24, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a Mass starting at 12:00 noon. Inurnment will be at a future date in St. Louis #3 Cemetery in New Orleans, LA. Donations to Second Harvest at www.no-hunger.org, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated. Online condolences may be offered at www.gardenofmemoriesmetairie.com.
