Yvonne Marie Pond

Yvonne Marie Riviere Pond, a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Metairie, passed away on December 2, 2025. Born on August 20, 1937, she was the daughter of Evelyn Courtney Riviere and Joseph Riviere, and the sister of Joseph Paul, Wayne John, and Gail Ann, who preceded her in death.

She married Preston Richardson Pond the love of her life on July 2, 1955, and together they shared a life of devotion, adventure, and deep commitment. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Dixie Ann, as well as her parents and sister.

Yvonne is survived by her husband, Preston; her daughters Penny (Douglas), Peggy, and Patty Jo; and by David Michael Pond, whom she considered a son.

Raised in the Carrollton area, Yvonne attended Incarnate Word Grammar School and the Academy of the Holy Angels. She earned both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree and became a Certified Professional Contract Manager. She spent many years working on the space program as a Subcontract Manager for Lockheed Martin and later taught Federal Acquisition Regulations as an Adjunct Professor for the Florida Institute of Technology.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of strong faith, Yvonne lived with purpose, resilience, and compassion. As a proud military wife, she supported Preston through decades of naval service, maintaining homes across the country and raising their daughters with grace and humor. She believed in adventure, cherished family experiences, and passed down wisdom that shaped generations.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, and she found peace knowing her Savior had prepared a place for her. She guided and loved her family unconditionally, standing behind them with strength and encouragement.

You taught us to be strong, kind, and steadfast in our values. Though we ache with loss, we take comfort in knowing you are with your Savior. We will honor you by caring for Dad, loving one another fiercely, and carrying forward your legacy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Garden of Memories Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive Metairie, LA 70001 on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
