ROBERT BECKER Obituary

BECKER--Robert (Bob) David, age 83, was an attorney, a member of the bar for more than 50 years in New York State. After a long illness and surrounded by his beloved family, he passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024. He leaves behind his wife, Lucy, his daughter, Nancy Margolin, his son, Jonathan Becker and four grandchildren, Olivia, and Julia Margolin and Dylan and Paxton Becker, his daughter-in-law, Haley Becker, his son-in-law Scott Margolin, and his brothers Jack and Ronald Becker. He was born and raised in Syracuse, New York where he attended Syracuse University and maintained a lifelong connection to the Syracuse community. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, and, enjoyed a reputation as a kind and a judicious lawyer, father, grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, counsin and friend. Bob was a true mensch in every sense of the word. The son of Holocaust survivors, he maintained a close connection to his Jewish faith and was a member of the Park Avenue Synagogue, a member of their Men's Club and a frequent participant in their lively Purim Spiel. He loved playing tennis, was an ardent sports fan and religiously watched the Yankees. He loved to sing, and to tell a good story. But truly his greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his extremely close knit family who adored him endlessly.

I worked as a legal secretary to the late Robert D. Becker in the early 70's when he had an office in the A and D bldg on 59 St. I loved working with him. He was a lovely family man and was wonderful to work for. I think about him from time to time over the years. May his memory be for a blessing and may he rest in peace

I cherish the many family celebrations I was privileged to share with my joyful, generous, astute and loving friend, Robert Becker.
Bob loved to share his many passions, especially those of his family with everyone. He was a very gracious host, a faithful friend, benevolent patriarch, a much loved dad, father-in-law, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle and someone you always looked forward to spending time with. I will miss you.

Bob served as long time treasurer to our New York County Lawyers Association Committee on the (state) Supreme Court, typical of his generosity and reliable excellence. I can hear him now. intoning his reports. He will be missed.
