INTNER--Sheila S. Died Sunday, October 22, 2023. Sheila S. Intner, DLS, of Tinton Falls, NJ, formerly of Silver Springs, MD, Monterey, MA and Forest Hills, NY. Beloved wife of Mathew Intner; devoted mother of Carol Intner, Susan Intner, Betsy Brown, and Jonathan Intner; dear grandmother of ten; adoring great-grandmother of five; loving sister of Thelma Garfield, Mitchell Silverstein and Saramina Berman. Dr. Intner was an award-winning practitioner, educator and author in Library and Information Sciences specializing in cataloguing and collection development. Earned a BA in Economics and Political Science at Northwestern University, MLS at Queens College, CUNY and DLS from Columbia University. At the time of her death, she was Professor Emerita at Simmons College GSLIS. Her career as a global expert spanned serving on the faculty of seven preeminent library and information sciences programs, including founding director and professor at Simmons' GSLIS MLS program at Mt. Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA; writing or serving as principal editor of 29 books; writing and editing columns for professional journals; presenting papers and teaching through out the US and in Europe, Asia and the Middle East; and teaching and consulting on Fulbright grants in Israel, Tbilisi, Georgia, Indonesia, and Marshall Islands. She was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Margaret Mann Citation, the Distinguished Alumna Award of Queens College's GSLIS, the OLAC Award, and the NETSL Award. She was active in professional organizations, including committee work and serving as President of ALA's Association for Library Collections and Technical Services, and President of OLAC. Private graveside services led by Rabbi Leslie Bergson were held Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah Hospital in Israel, Simmons University GSLIS, or the charity of your choice. Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Funeral Chapels, Ocean Township, NJ, were in charge of services
