Nevin George VanRiper

Nevin George VanRiper, 68, of Washington, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, in the Donnell House. He was born April 17, 1956, in Sellersville, a son of Reba "Nadine" VanRiper of Washington, and the late Reverend George E. VanRiper. He loved music and played the bass guitar in several local bands. He, along with his band, had the opportunity to open for country legend George Jones. Nevin loved Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was very patriotic, loved his country and he loved God. As an over-the-road trucker, he had the opportunity to visit 48 of the 50 United States. Surviving, in addition to his mother, is his wife, Jacqueline Pettit VanRiper. Also surviving are his daughter and caregiver, Lindsey (fiance Javier Navarrete) VanRiper; a brother, Calvin "Scot" (Wendy) VanRiper of Washington; and sister- in-law, Melanie Jo Isler of Fayetteville, N.C. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Mikiya VanRiper, Navon VanRiper and Braedyn Rhodes; along with several stepchildren and stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Craig LaRue VanRiper. A memorial gathering will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., the time of a memorial service, Saturday, August 17, in DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, with the Rev.
