Albert "Al" Lee Dixon, 91, of Conroe, TX, peacefully went to be with his Lord & Savior, Wednesday, May 12th, 2021.
Born Monday, November 18, 1929, in Grapeland, TX as the fifth of six children to the late Edgar and Ethel Dixon.
Albert's depth and passion for people made him truly remarkable. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, laughing while wearing a gentle smile. A loving and caring person leaving his joyous mark to all he met; never knowing the meaning of a stranger, only a friend; always one to enjoy a spirited conversation taking a genuine interest in the lives of others. Those fortunate to spend time with him were sure to feel a positive impact. Making improvements in the lives of those in need but never forced his way into others' lives. His love of life made him seem fearless. Al was a remarkable story teller and thoughtful listener. One of his greatest joys in life was being with his grandchildren, loving and caring for them as they grew. He loved passing on his life lessons, love of life and people to his grandchildren.
Albert loved the outdoors. Finding the perfect fishing spot on Lake Conroe was one of his favorite pastimes. Growing his own produce, he was known for his "green thumbs", sharing his crop with family, friends, and neighbors. He found great joy spending a beautiful day with family and friends on the back porch. Additional hobbies include hosting neighborhood fish fries, planning the annual family reunion, and tinkering with random objects building creative original works as a self-made inventor.
Albert was known to be dependable, helpful and faithful in his activities. He graduated from Centerville High School. In 1949, he served his country as a corporal in the Air Force. Al loved to read his bible, praying for and with others as the Deacon of several 1st Baptist Churches. He loved working in the church and cherished praising the Lord. Serving in several organizations, Albert always enjoyed helping others. As a member of Lions Club International and as a Master Mason for the Freemasons, these enabled him to serve his fellow man. His honesty, kindness and generosity certainly made him shine. Albert's works throughout his life resembled the Sun, which enlightens the Earth by its genial influences dispensing blessings to his fellow man.
Albert met the love of his life the late Irene Dixon in Elkhart, TX. Al and Irene married January of 1950. Their first home was in Brazoria, TX. From their union they had three sons Charles, Randall, and Bryce Dixon. The family started in Starks, LA then settling in Nederland, TX from 1960-1993. After retiring from 20 years at DuPont, Albert and Irene built their dream house on Lake Conroe in 1994. Al loved their community - their neighbors and their church.
Albert was fervently dedicated to family. He was a devoted husband, father; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Left to cherish his loving memory his sons, Charles Dixon and wife Shelly Dixon of The Woodlands, TX and Randall Dixon and wife Rosemary Dixon of Ronald, WA. His brother Mitchell Dixon. His seven grandchildren, Paul Benson, Brent Dixon, Lisa Dixon, Nick Dixon, Drew Dixon, Jon Dixon, and Luke Dixon. As well as four greatgrandchildren Sarah, Abigale, Jaqueline, Aza Dixon and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Albert was preceded in death by his loving wife Irene Mae Dixon of 60 years. He is also preceded in death by his son Bryce Dixon. As well as his sisters, Corinne Tilley, Ora Mae McGaughey, Ruby Minter, and Laura Dee Garrison. Albert loved being part of his family life. He considered his life special and full of many blessings.
