Alfredo Castro Obituary

Alfredo was born on May 8, 1928 in Aringay, La Union, Philippines to Angel De Castro and Fausta Selga. He attended elementary and high school in Aringay, La Union,Philippines. During World War II, he served as a cook for US soldiers, and as a young adult, he travelled to Manila and studied at Feati University as a working college student.

Alfredo was an expert in hospitality and customer service and worked in multiple hotels in the Philippines as a food and beverage manager. Eventually, he retired from the hospitality industry and moved to the US to focus all of his attention on his family.

Alfredo had a passion for cooking. He loved to watch action movies, fishing and crabbing, and making his grandchildren and great-grandchildren laugh. He was a romantic at heart and could often be heard singing Filipino love songs. Re-watching his 50th wedding anniversary video was an annual occurrence. He was known for his devotion to the Lord, meeting with Him every day in prayer and worship. His favorite worship song was "I Love You, Lord."

Alfredo passed away on December 30, 2021 in Houston, Texas at the age of 93 years. Blessed be his memory.

Alfredo is survived by his wife Dominga Ganir de Castro; his daughters: Catherine and husband Reuben Laurel, Maria Lourdes and husband Nick Uban, and Virginia and husband Jon Plaisance; his sons: Danilo and wife Fe de Castro, and Alfredo Jr. and wife Christine de Castro; sisters: Consuelo Cabutotan and Placida Gachallan; grandchildren: Eileen and Steven Salazar, Ana Mae and Aaron Holmes, Grace and Luke Holter, Marian Natalie Grace Uban, Cristel and Noli Mina, Danille and Joseph Torchia, TeeJay and Phillip Peschke, Mira and Juan Carlo Magsino, Jovelyn and Kyle Pascual, Krizia and Paolo Domingo, and Patricia Gem de Castro; great grandchildren: Sergio Salazar, Sophia de Castro, Gemma Holter, Samantha de Castro, Sebastian de Castro, Lochlan Holmes, Eliza Mina, Finnoula Holmes, and Elisa Mina; among numerous other family and friends.
