Alison Olson Obituary

Alison Gail Olson passed on to her next life on July 31, 2023, in Cedar Park, Texas. She was born to Goldie Szabo and Joseph Patrick (birth father, Mansel Bates) on September 14, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up on the shore of Lake Erie, and was raised by Goldie and her step-father George Tiborsky. Alison graduated from Euclid High School in 1963, and met her husband, George Olson (d. 2017) at Kent State University. After fleeing Vietnam drafts, the couple moved to Canada, and then, in 1980, to their permanent home in Humble, Texas.

Alison is survived by her daughters, Belinda Claire Jones (Wes) and Mandy Gauld (Andrew), her grandchildren Hazel Jones, Jack & June Gauld of Austin, Texas; and her siblings Nancy Hartmann of Humble, Texas, Irene Collins of Painesville, Ohio and Mark Tiborsky of Richmond Heights, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents, Goldie & George Tiborsky.

We take comfort knowing that Alison is no longer suffering the loss of her independence that increased each day from the disease with which she was diagnosed, corticobasal degeneration. Her final wishes were to donate her remains to a neuroscience research program at the Mayo Clinic in hopes that it will benefit those suffering from CBD and other similar diseases. We encourage everyone to hold her memory in their heart and consider making a donation in her honor to psp.org or philanthropy.mayoclinic.org, specifying Brain Bank in the designation field.
