Bobbie Jean Welch was born July 23, 1934 in Fostoria, Texas to R E and Gladys Walker Dodd. Bobbie passed away March 27, 2018 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 83. She retired from South Western Bell where she was an Administrator. She played piano and organ for over 30 years at Security First Baptist Church as her way of worshipping her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. She loved spending time with her family and was faithful to attend "coffee time" at her sister's every afternoon enjoying fellowship with family, and friends who happened to stop by. Her eyes would light up, and her beautiful smile would appear on her face every time her grandchildren, or great grandchildren came to visit. Even in the last days, a flicker of joy could be seen in her eyes when they were around. Bobbie enjoyed being outdoors with her husband Johnnie for many years. He insisted she go hunting with him, so in the morning she would get up, put her make up on, fix her hair, grab a magazine and her gun. She would then calmly shoot the biggest buck in the woods. The Lord blessed Bobbie with the ability to do anything she put her mind to do. She taught herself how to sew, crochet, macramé, embroidery, and quilt. She also loved collecting her roosters, and has hundreds to prove it. She was a member of Mims Baptist Church and enjoyed her Sunday School Class and worshipping with some of her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnnie L. Welch; brother, Ronald Dodd and by her grandchild, Katie Jean Jolly. She is survived by her children, Karen Jolly of Conroe, Texas, Greg Jolly and wife Donna of Conroe, Texas, Daniel Welch and wife Shannon of Clemson, South Carolina, Carol Welch and Lynne Galan both of Lafayette, Louisiana; sister, Billye Earle Knight and husband J.O of Cleveland, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan Jolly and wife Brandy, Beau Jolly and wife Leah, Rachael Breaux and husband Tommy, David Galan Jr and wife Ashley, Cheyne Galan, Robert Galan, Heather Welch, Sean Welch and Erin Welch; 15 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. She was lovingly cared for by Tina Cornett, Stacey Vyoral, Joyce Ritchie, Donna Beasley, and Jenny Draper. Visitation will be at Cashner Funeral Home on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 1-2pm. Funeral Service will begin at 2pm with Pastor Larry Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan Cemetery. To leave condolences to the family, visit our website at www.cashnerconroe.com

I met Bobby in 1972 when I transferred from SWBT Houston to SWBT Cleveland. She was such a wonderful person. I was also on the hunting lease with her and Johnny where we had good times setting around telling tall tales and sharing meals. I am sure Bobby will be missed by all the folks that knew her and naturally her love one. They just don't make 'um like Bobby any more.
