Dolores Joan Schaffner born on March 26, 1930 left this world on June 23, 2021 to reunite with her beloved husband Leigh and daughter Robyn. Dolores was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spent her last months at Atria in Kingwood where she was able to make new friends, attend special events and take her daily walks. She was always a caretaker, taking care of many young children throughout her life. She enjoyed taking the kids on visits to the park, farm, McDonalds and her favorite, the local pool. Many of these children have continued to keep in contact with Miss Dee throughout their adult lives. She was also a caretaker to many dogs, adopted strays and backyard wildlife. You might remember Miss D walking her dog Jackson or Salty on the greenbelt everyday-rain or shine. Dolores was born in Buffalo NY and moved to Houston in 1956. Although she was born in NY, she considered herself a true Texan, and avoided the cold weather as much as possible. Dolores kept busy throughout her life with hobbies such as supporting her husband's hunting passion, gardening, baking, watching sports, listening to country music, and creating a weekend oasis at their country property. They enjoyed spending weekends out at Deer Run, feeding the deer, maintaining the property, and spending time with neighbors. Dolores is survived by her daughter Suzan Steele and husband Tommy, deceased daughter Robyn, grandchildren Michelle, Melanie, Matthew and Bob, great grandchildren Megan, Kyle, Tyler, Koltyn, Sara, Grant, Cole and Olivia and extended family member Lisa Goldsmith.
