Don Tomlinson, 76, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at his home. He was born June 12, 1941 in Jacksonville, Texas to his late parents, James Wesley Tomlinson and Zora Ellen White Tomlinson.
Don has lived in Dayton since 2002, had previously lived in Sheldon and was a retired building inspector from the city of Houston after 32 years of service. He graduated from San Diego Evening High School in 1962 and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. His passions were helping others, fishing, tinkering, gardening and being around babies, especially his great-grandchildren.
Mr. Tomlinson was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joshua James Walls; sister, Yola Corley; brother, Ronald Tomlinson and brother-in-law, Edward Stewart.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Sue Tomlinson; sons, Bryan Tomlinson and his wife, Cheryl and Donald Walls and his wife, Vicki Cross; daughter, Heidi Tezyk; brothers, J. W. Tomlinson and William Tomlinson and his wife, Linda; sisters, Ida Stewart and Wanda Schulte and her husband, Fred; grandchildren, Madison, Madalyn, Joseph, Ryan and Zora; great-grandchildren, Valton and Paisley; sister-in-law, Carolyn Kuklok and her husband Clancy; brother-in-law, Rusty Williams and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a service to start at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton with Dr. B. L. Worsham officiating. Burial will follow at Palms Memorial Park in Dayton with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Mike McPhail, Neal Tomlinson, Kelly Tomlinson, Roy Smith, Glen Corley and Terry Grimes.
