Donna Sue Oehme Blackmon, beloved wife, mom and Dedy, passed away on August 30, 2016 at her home in Shenandoah, Texas. Donna was born in 1949 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Donna graduated from Westbury High School in Houston and attended Houston Baptist University. She later moved back to Oklahoma where she met and married her husband, Bill, of 46 years.
Donna and Bill moved to the Houston area in the early 70s to raise their family. Donna was passionate about her work for Kingwood Area EMS. She served as a volunteer EMT and office manager for a total of 34 years. She cherished the friends she made there and called them her KAEMSA Family.
Donna's nature was graceful and kind, but she also had a spirit of adventure. While the kids were growing up, their family spent most weekends camping, four-wheeling and riding motorcycles.
In 1990, Donna and Bill built a home in the country, which soon became a special place to the kids and grandkids to come. She loved hosting family and friends for holidays, birthday parties, and celebrations, where roasting hotdogs and marshmallows around the camp fire became a family tradition.
After retirement, they set off together in their 'forever motorhome' to see the country. Utah was her favorite place to travel to because of parks like Arches, Capital Reef, Canyonlands, Zion, and Bryce Canyon. They especially enjoyed spending time with family along the way and taking the grandkids back to see their favorite places.
Donna is survived by her husband Bill; son and daughter-in-law Keith and LaNay; daughter and son-in-law Kelly and John; grandchildren Jake, Emily and Luke and Jadon, Jack and Kyle; parents Del and Ella Oehme; siblings and siblings-in-laws Ron, Kim, Connie, Bonnie, Dan, Fred, Sue, Charlene "Skeet", Bob, Sandra, Janice, Mike, Gary and LeAnn; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Donna's oncologist, Dr. Julie Rowe, is doing research to develop more treatments for pancreatic cancer. It was Donna's wish that in lieu of flowers, we would please consider making a tax-deductible gift to support Dr. Rowe's research. Your gift can make a difference.
Gifts should be made payable to Memorial Hermann Foundation and sent to:
