Fred Allen Witte (82) passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 in Houston, TX. Fred was born in Victoria, TX on Dec. 10, 1932 to Frank Herbert Witte and Aline Elizabeth Etheridge Witte. He graduated Victoria High School in 1951 and served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958, stationed in Eastern Germany for 18 months. Fred worked in the newspaper business as a printer for 40 years, 20 years at the Victoria Advocate in Victoria, TX and 20 years at the Houston Post in Houston, TX. Fred is survived by his wife of 54 years, Grace Albrecht Witte; daughters Susan Witte Brown and husband Richard, and Jan Witte Mullen and husband Shaun; and four grandsons, Austin and Benjamin Brown and Ryan and Kyle Mullen; one brother, Robert Earl Witte. All will miss his wonderful stories, jokes and sharp sense of humor. Fred was preceded in death by a brother, James Frank Witte and a sister, Joyce Lovell Witte Blevins. Since 2003, Fred lived in Kingwood, TX and was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the fellowship of Sunday mornings as well as his time with The Care Group. Fred loved to play dominoes and cards with friends and family and cherished spending time in Goliad, TX at the family lake house. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 pm Monday, May 4, 2015 at Darst Funeral Home 796 Russell Palmer Road Kingwood, TX 77339. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Christ the King Lutheran Church 3803 W Lake Houston Parkway Kingwood, TX 77339. For friends and family in Victoria, Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel 3304 E Mockingbird Lane Victoria, TX 77904 and a grave side service held 10:30 am Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Coletoville Cemetery 2583 Coletoville Road Victoria, TX 77905. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church in Kingwood, TX or the Coletoville Cemetery Association in Victoria, TX.
