Gail Merlyn Hummel, 75, passed away peacefully January 12, 2012. Gail was born July 22, 1936, in Fairbury, Neb. Gail achieved the rank of Chief Master Sgt. with the 147th Texas Air National Guard at Ellington AFB retiring in 1991 after 34 years. He was also a committed civic leader and worked on the Galveston County Appraisal Review Board, the League City Planning Commission and was a League City Councilman from 1979-1981. Gail and his wife of 43 years, Jimi, were founding members and education coordinators for the Houston Area Ferret Association. Gail is survived by his wife, 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, at the League City Civic Center Ballroom, 400 Walker, League City, Texas, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gail's memory can be made at http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/gailhummel/gailsmemory
