Gwen Elizabeth Wofford Goolsby was born July 11, 1927, in Anderson County to George W. Wofford and Minnie Hooper Wofford. She passed away on November 19, 2016 in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 89 yrs., 4 months, 8 days. She married William Gail Goolsby in 1947 and they had two daughters, Sondra and Deborah and one son, W. Keith Goolsby.
Gwen is preceded in death by: her husband, William Gail Goolsby, Jr.; parents George and Minnie Wofford; daughter Deborah L. Billiot Page. Also, preceded by brothers: Bennie, Oad, Audry, Albert and Donovan Wofford. Sisters: Stella Parks, Mary Killingsworth, Dorothy Price, Hazel Scholars Richardson, Fern Warren and Arline Martin.
Gwen is survived by her children: Sondra and Joe Young of Conroe, TX; Keith & Peggy Goolsby of Humble, TX. Grandchildren: Joe Young Jr. of Brownwood, TX; William and Elizabeth Goolsby of Porter, TX; Christian Billiot of Austin, TX; Kellea and Shawn Shirley of Humble, TX. Great grandchildren: Abbigail, Ella and Grace Goolsby of Porter, TX. and Zoey and Charlotte Shirley of Humble, TX.
She is also survived by: Brother-in-law Donald and wife Shirley Goolsby of Grapeland, TX. And sisters-in-law: Kay Reed and Maxie Nell and husband Billy Teems of Slocum, TX. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Gwen was a member of Allendale Baptist Church and resided with her daughter in Conroe, TX.
Family will receive friends and family on Tues. Nov. 22, 2016 at 10:00 am; services will follow at 11:00 am at the Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Chapel in Grapeland, TX. Burial will be at Milligan Cemetery in Latexo, TX., where she served on and supported the Milligan Cemetery Committee as president for many years. Bro. Roy Brooks and Rick Clay will officiate the services.
