James (Jim) P. Duke, age 91, of Kingwood, TX, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2018. Mr. Duke was born March 14, 1927 in New York City, NY and was raised and educated in Montreal, Canada. He was an American veteran of WWII and Korea serving in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1987 after 32 years of dedicated service with the Gillette Company, after which he moved to Kingwood, where he has lived since. Mr. Duke was an avid amateur sports competitor and won many trophies in softball, hockey, tennis, golf, horseshoes, bowling and skiing. In retirement, his hobbies included swimming, bicycling, reading and bridge where he earned masterpoints. In addition, he founded the bridge club and rec club in Kingwood. He loved to travel and was proud of the fact that he had been in all 50 states and walked in 60 foreign countries and cruised in many of the world's oceans and seas. Mr. Duke was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary of 37 years in 2002. He was devoted to his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He leaves behind four children, Brian Duke of Massachusetts, Cathy Hofmann of Kingwood, TX, James D. Duke and his wife Shannon Duke of Chesapeake, Virginia, and John Duke and his wife Wendy Duke of Cypress, TX, one sister-in-law, Virginia Rogers and her husband Ronald Rogers of Kingwood, TX, five grandchildren, Angelica Hofmann, Derek Strimban, Sarah Duke, Stephanie Duke and Elizabeth Duke, and two great grandchildren, Rylee Amrine and Nicholas Amrine, as well as many other family members
