James Arthur O'Neill

1959 - 2021

Jim O'Neill, 62, passed away October 21, 2021, at home in Sugar Land, TX. He is survived by his wife, Lilia O'Neill; stepchildren Sarah Carter, her son Braden; Scott Hill, his wife Rosie and their son; Ryan Kielman, his wife Lindsey and their children.

Born in Warren, Minnesota, he is also survived by his mother Mary Baumgaertner; sister Maureen Erickson, her husband Jeff; sister Margaret O'Neill; sister Jeanne O'Neill; sister Katherine Kerr, her husband Robert; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father James O'Neill, Sr.

Jim was a very successful businessman and entrepreneur with great insight and knowledge that he was always willing to share. This 1982 Billboard Magazine "personality of the year" recipient had many accomplishments in broadcasting syndication and other entertainment endeavors.

He loved hockey and was active in its Houston/Sugar Land area community through refereeing, playing, officiating, and organizing tournament events. He cared a lot for others and was always finding ways to contribute in making the world a better place. He founded STARskaters in 2008, which is an organization that has a mission to provide an on-ice experience for individuals with disabilities through its Sled Hockey and SkateTherapy programs.

Above all Jim was a loyal and dear husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, and an all around true friend.

Memorial services honoring Jim's life will be held at the Sugar Land Mortuary on November 5, 2021 starting at 5:00pm.
