Janette Duke Goodman, 88, of Baytown, Texas, passed away on October 3, 2017. She was born in Midway, Texas, on October 15, 1928. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Baytown. She was a former member of the American Business Women's Association. She is remembered by her family for her homemade rolls and good cooking. She will be missed by those who loved and respected her. Her family is comforted by her strong faith in the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Goodman; husband and father of her children, W. J. "Bill" Cerveny; parents, Plennie and Viola Duke; brothers, J.D. Matheson and Billy Duke; sisters, Ruby Kuykendall, Bessie Lee, Wilma Graham, Thelma Mercer, and Mary Kuykendall; stepson, Barney Ross Goodman; and numerous other loved ones. She is survived by her son, Steve Cerveny and wife Jane; daughter, Carol Madden and husband Joe; brother, Jack Duke and wife Ann; sisters and brother-in-law, Bertie Kinsey and Brenda Dugas and husband Paul: stepdaughters, Victoria Decker and Lynn Fields and husband Jack; grandchildren, Kinsey Decker, Jordan Rhoads, Lexi Fields, Melissa Goodman-Lachey, Amanda Tudyk, Jennifer Goodman-Sears, and Shane Goodman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Friday, October 6, 2017, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bill Yowell officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Duke, Michael Tipton, Brady Dugas, Paul Dugas, Charlie Mahler, Trey Mahler, Eric Mahler, and Dr. Stan Zbylot.
