Kathy Doshier Obituary

Kathy Lou Doshier was born on August 9, 1948, in Monahans, Texas, to parents Cecil and Vema (née McKee) Daugherty. She was the eldest of two daughters. She lived in Imperial and Winters during her early years before attending and graduating High School from Crane, Texas, in 1966. Her work on earth being done, God called her home on April 7, 2016, at the age of 67.

After High School, she lived and worked in various places in Texas, landing back in Crane in 1976. She worked several jobs in Crane before landing a job with Getty Oil Company. It was there she met her future husband, Tim Doshier. They married on November 22, 1980, in Crane. Over the next 35 years, they lived a semi-nomadic, oil-company lifestyle traveling through various places before settling in Kingwood, Texas, in 1994. Together, they raised four children: Jeff (Sheri) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Annabeth (Mike) of Kingwood, Patrick of CyFair, Texas, and Christopher (Kathryn) also of CyFair, Texas.

Wherever she lived, Kathy was an active teacher. In church she taught pre-school kids, and at the Christian School of Kingwood, she gave many young children a good foundation in the basics of education as well as providing them a living example of a Christian spouse and parent. Everywhere she went, she was admired and loved by the children that surrounded her. Kathy also had many hidden talents that came to surface through the natural affection that she freely gave to anyone in need: things such as the lost art of calligraphy. Sending a plain card or note was "just not good enough".

She was also the family counsel. Children, grandchildren, friends, co-workers - anybody who met her - found it very easy to talk to her. She had a gift for listening and then saying the right thing at the right time. She could give wise advice by sometimes not even saying a word - just a hug or a hand-squeeze was all that was needed. Her acts of selflessness and love for others quietly guided the lives of family and friends alike. In everything she did, she always put God first and placed the needs of others ahead of her own desires.

She is preceded in death by her Mother in 1992, her Father in 2003, and one grandchild, Brooklyn Rae Doshier, in 2009. She is survived by her sister Linda, her children and ten grandchildren: Haley (Eric), Justin, Jason, Kole, Kaleb, Kitchell, Kayden, Isabella, Caroline and Ezekiel. A memorial service was held at the Kingwood Church of Christ on Saturday, April 9, at 2PM. A coffee and dessert reception will follow. She will be interred in Rosewood Cemetery, Humble, at the foot of the statue of John.

She exemplified the life of a Christian wife and mother which can be summed up by this quote from Proverbs 31 - "...a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.".

In lieu of flowers, the family requests your memorial donations go to Freedom Place: a home for teenage girls that have been abused.
