Kenneth McGaughey Obituary

Kenneth Dwayne McGaughey, 81 years 11months old, born April 28, 1935 in Humble, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on March 11, 2017. He is survived by his wife Joyce Kay McGaughey, son Kenneth Dwayne McGaughey, Jr. and wife Deanna McGaughey, daughter Karin Dlayne Neighbors and husband John Neighbors, step daughter Brenda Kay Bock and husband Brian Bock, grand children Dillon McGaughey, Kimberly McGaughey, Kacie McGaughey, Ryan Neighbors and wife Meg Neighbors, Nolan Neighbors, Adam Neighbors, Hannah Neighbors, Rebekah Neighbors, Noah Neighbors, great-grandchildren Duke Neighbors and Maggie Sue Neighbors, brother-in-law Joe Dempsey, nephews Kenneth Dempsey and Cody Carter, and numerous friends. Preceded in death by his parents Jeff and Florence McGaughey, first wife Patricia Sue McGaughey, sister Barbara Ann Dempsey, and niece Kathy Dempsey Carter. Dwayne was a very active member of Humble all his life, graduated from Charles Bender High School in 1953 and Sam Houston University, he invested in and raised registered beef master cattle, was a member of Humble Area First Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Air Force, during the Korean conflict, retired from Texaco where he was the Tax Representative for the South Texas Region, he was in the reserves at Ellington Air Base, was a charter member of Humble's Rotary Club, served as Humble Independent School District Tax Assessor/Collector, was Past Master of Humble Lodge No. 979, member of the American Legion Post No. 132, served with the Shriners, very active of Humble Citizen Police Academy, actively volunteering at the court house for the Humble City Judge, and liason for the police, Crawfish Festival and Local Parades and in any other way he could help. Enjoyed the activities at the Humble Civic Center and visiting with friends. His hobbies included golf, in which he won trophies, enjoyed fishing and hunting, collected guns, enjoyed turkey and quail hunting, his stories were usually funny. He was also a master gardener and volunteered at the Humble Senior Garden. He owned and piloted his own plane.
