Kenneth Wayne Strahan of Elgin, died Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Seton Hospital. Wayne was born in Houston, Texas on May 8, 1941 and was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Strahan, parents, Willie V. and Opal Dane Strahan, and his brother Bill Lindley Strahan. Wayne is survived by his daughter Tracy Andrews and her husband Scott and his grandchildren Lachlan, Lindley and Sophie of Ballarat Victoria, Australia; his son Jason Strahan and his wife Doyoung and his grandson Damon of Chicago, IL; his sister Glinda Plumlee and her husband Jim of Cleveland, TX; his nephew Bill Strahan and his wife Lisa of Cypress, TX and their sons Travis, Trevor and Trent. Wayne grew up in Cleveland, TX where his father owned the Strahan's five and dime store. Wayne went to Lamar State College in Beaumont, TX and studied Business and was in the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Wayne was in the Army after he left college and then went to work at Sears Roebuck and later owned a Sears Roebuck Catalogue store in Marble Falls, TX. Wayne was a devoted husband and father. He supported his children to 'follow their dreams' and to get a good education. Wayne will be remembered for his positive attitude, his kindness and his laughter. Wayne battled with heart disease, became a Catholic and cared for his wife of 42 years when she battled and then passed away from cancer. He found comfort and support with Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Bereaved Boomers, his VAD support group and all the doctors and nurses at Seton, 3 West. A special thank you to all of the members of these groups and organizations. The family will gather to meet with friends at 2:00pm, Sunday, October 29th at Elgin Providence Funeral Home with Rosary to be said at 3:00pm. Mass and Christian burial will be at 11:00am, Monday, October 30th at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Elgin, TX. Inurnment will follow at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Seton HSCTC/VAD at 1301 W.38th St., Medical Park Tower, 514, Austin, TX. 78705. Arrangements are under the care of Elgin Providence Funeral Home, Elgin, TX www.elgin-providencefuneral home.com.
