Kent H. Rogers, 77, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on January 28, 2016.
Kent was born in Syracuse, New York on October 9, 1938 to his parents, Clyde and Marion Rogers. He graduated from the University of Washington with Bachelors and Masters Degrees. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army. Shell Oil Company in Houston was Kent's employer for 33 years. He retired from Shell Oil in 1996.
Beverly Ann Schumacher became his wife on November 4, 1961 in Seattle, Washington. They became the proud parents of their only son, David. The family resided in Kingwood, Texas for 38 years before moving to Sun City, Georgetown, Texas in 2012.
Kent loved teaching Sunday School, coaching Little League Baseball, soccer and basketball. Many children benefitted from his fine tuning of their skills and his Bible lessons over the years. He was a faithful member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Kingwood, and Faith Lutheran Church in Georgetown, Texas
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Marion Rogers.
Kent's loving wife of 53 years survives him along with their son, David and his wife, Ericka, of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by his grandson, Henry William; granddaughter, Hattie Grace; sister, Karen Raphael-Conley; brother-in-law, William (Jane) Schumacher; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Skip) Childs and Barbara Schumacher along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4th in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home, with Pastor John Selle officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Georgetown or to the ASPCA.
