Lucille Frances White Bodien, 89, of Kingwood, Texas died peacefully in the loving hands of her family on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 at the home of her daughter, Janice Richards, in Houston, Texas.
She was born July 22, 1925 in Hunnewell, Missouri to Ola and James J. White. Her family, including brothers Ray and Harold ("Giggs"), soon thereafter moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where her sister Phyllis was born. Lucille graduated from Marquette University Business School after attending Catholic grade school and Milwaukee public high school where she met her future husband Glenn.
After Glenn returned from WWII in Oct., 1945 they became engaged and were married August 24, 1946. In 1958, they transferred to Niagara Falls, New York. They soon settled into their home in North Tonawanda, New York, where she became active in the garden club and local bridge groups. Their daughter Janice was adopted in Niagara Falls, New York in 1960. While in NY she earned her Masters in Education, teaching in private schools there and later Ohio.
After moving to Texas, in 1972, she became a secretary at a music studio and then in 1973 moved to Kingwood, TX and became deeply involved with Family Time Foundation in Humble, TX. Lucille was known for her positive attitude, compassion, kindness and generosity towards others. After Glenn retired in 1988 she and Glenn enjoyed their golden years by cruising many parts of the world with her sister, Phyllis and brother-in-law Bill Samuelson.
She was a voracious reader, avid and skilled bridge player, playing duplicate at Kingwood Country Club for the past 41 years.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents James J. & Ola White, brothers Raymond and Harold, brothers-in-law William Samuelson, Jack Bodien and Earl Bodien and sister-in-law Jean Bodien Schack.
