Margery Ann Darnell

Margery Ann Darnell went to be with her Lord on January 11, 2017 after a battle with Lung Cancer. Margery was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 9, 1939 to Gladys Marie Grimsley and Alfred Edward Grimsley. Margery was raised in Cleveland, Texas by her mother, Gladys and her Grandmother, Mrs. Ila Oliver. Margery was the oldest of four children and assisted her mother and grandmother in raising three brothers. She graduated from Cleveland High School in 1956 as a Lead Band Majorette. She was also Miss Dairy Day, Miss Trinity Valley, and held many other Beauty Queen Titles across East Texas. Although she had many admirers, she soon married Butch Strahan and had her son, Bill. Margery and her son moved to Houston, Texas where she worked for Weatherby Oil and Gas as an Executive Secretary. She met and married Quinton L. Darnell, Sr. in Houston, Texas.

After a move to Tulsa, Oklahoma with Sinclair Oil in 1968, Quinton and Margery started Darenco, Inc. and moved to Casper, Wyoming. Margery worked as an Executive Secretary and Bookkeeper at Darenco and also gave birth to her daughter, Jennifer while in Casper. While in Casper, Margery was President of Casper Engineering Wives, worked closely with the Casper United Methodist Church and the Gourmet Wives of Casper, and loved to decorate, entertain, and travel while being a dedicated mother. In 1981, the family moved to Kingwood, Texas in order to be closer to Margery's family. While in Kingwood, Margery involved herself and family in the Kingwood United Methodist Church, and stayed active playing tennis and golf. After the death of her husband of 28 years, Quinton Lee Darnell, Sr. Margery continued her involvement at her church and she continued working. She took a stand against Mental, Emotional, and Physical Abuse, as well as assist those who have been abused, by working at the Kingwood Pines Hospital for several years.

In 2009, Margery married Ken Everitt of Cleveland, Texas and moved to Cleveland, Texas to retire. While in Cleveland, she decided to have a 1956 Cleveland Indians Class Reunion and had so much fun organizing the event. During the latter years of her life she remained a dedicated mother and grandmother. Margery's love was her children and grandchildren.

Margery is survived by her husband Ken Everitt; her son Bill L. Strahan and his wife, Lisa M. Strahan and their boys, Travis Austin Strahan, Trevor Fulton Strahan, and Trenton Lindley Strahan of Cypress, Texas; her daughter Jennifer L. Darnell Lee Mousel and Son-In-Law, Scott Mousel of Kingwood, Texas, ex Son-In Law, John P. Lee and her granddaughter, Alexandria Grace Lee of Klein and Kingwood, Texas; stepson Quinton L. Darnell, Jr. and his wife Ann Darnell and their daughter, Raehanah of Hobbs, New Mexico; and stepdaughter Janet Linn Darnell of Tyler, Texas; her brother, John Grimsley and Sister In Law, Judith Grimsley of Cleveland, Texas.

Margery is preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Marie Grimsley; her father, Alfred Edward Grimsley; brothers, Richard Glynn Grimsley and Bobby James Grimsley; her grandmother, Ila Oliver; and her uncle James Oliver, 1st Lieutenant United States Airforce WWI& Korea.
