Robert L. "Bob" Nichols, believer, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully in Conroe, Texas on the 28th of May 2021, at the age of 86.
Bob was born on the 3rd of March, 1935, to Eddie and Ouida Glass Nichols in Linden, Alabama. As a young man, Bob served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. He graduated from Livingston State College (now the University of West Alabama) in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and began working in accounting for the wood products industry. After moving his family from Alabama to Conroe, Texas, Bob later owned and operated a construction-related business for fifteen years. He worked as a real estate agent in both Texas and Marengo County, Alabama where he and his wife Patricia returned home to live during their "retirement years."
To know Bob was to see the love of his Savior in how he loved his family and many friends. Bob married the love of his life, Patricia Barkley, in 1956, and they shared a beautiful marriage for 58 years. Bob was a hard-working and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He loved to laugh, spend time with family, and serve at his church. You could always expect to be greeted by Bob with a smile and a "Roll Tide," as an avid and lifelong University of Alabama football fan. He was a deacon and faithful member at Mims Baptist Church in Conroe, TX and Calvary Baptist Church in Calvary, Alabama for many years. He also served as a part of Gideon International and ministered in the jail of Marengo County, Alabama.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and beautiful bride, Patricia. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Leon, Melvin, and Perry and sister Helen Nichols.
He is survived by sons, Larry (Cindy) Nichols of Tomball, TX and Keith (Debbie) Nichols of Cypress, TX; daughter Amy (Evan) Roberson of Conroe, TX; Sister, Gloria (Chuck) Henkelman, of Pensacola, Fl. 'Granddaddy' is survived by 10 grandchildren - Mindy (Chris) Reynolds, Matt (Brittany) Nichols, Melissa (Dave) Smyth, Brian (Kaitlyn) Nichols, Garrett Nichols, Grant Nichols, Brooke (Collin) Nichols, Noah Roberson and Abigail Roberson. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren - Jake, June, Emma, Sadie, Riley, Andrew, Josie, Nolan, Cayson, Jaxson, Caroline, Charles, Audrey, Addison, and Summer.
Visitation for Bob will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday June 2, 2021, at McNutt Funeral Home, located at 1703 Porter Rd, Conroe, TX 77301, with services to follow at 2 p.m. Interment will follow immediately after at Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery.
