Stephen Reed Maness, II, 45, of Kingwood, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, April 24, 2015. He was born May 3, 1969 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Sandy and Steve Maness.

Stephen lived most of his life in Kingwood where he graduated from Kingwood High School in 1987. He was married to Alicia Alexander on August 17, 1990 and worked as Vice President of his family's business until 2015. Stephen was a proud father to son, Stephen "Reed" Maness, III, of Kingwood, Texas and daughter, Grayson Suzanne Maness, also of Kingwood, Texas.

Stephen had a big heart. He was so caring and giving. His smile will live in the hearts of all who knew him.

He had a passion for bow-hunting, competitive shooting, and his beloved LSU Tigers. Stephen's smile and laughter was infectious, and he was a master of Cajun and Tex-Mex cooking.

Stephen is preceded in death by great grandparents, Alice and George Singleton and Samuella Ellender; and grandfathers, Finis Maness and Walter Miller.

Those left to honor and cherish Stephen's memory are his wife, Lisa Alexander Maness of Kingwood, TX; son, Reed Maness of Kingwood, TX; daughter, Grayson Maness of Kingwood, TX; parents, Sandy and Steve Maness of Kingwood, TX; sisters, Shea Maness Brubaker of Kingwood, TX and Shelby Maness Averett of Columbus, GA; grandmothers, Fran S. Maness of Horseshoe Bay, TX and Ruby Nell Broussard of Round Rock, TX. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew.

A time of visitation and gathering will take place at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Hwy 59 N Kingwood, TX 77339, on Thursday April 30, 2015 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:30 PM.

In lieu of Floral Tributes the family invites you to make memorial donation in Stephen's name to Combat Marine Outdoors, 6610 Malibu Dr. Houston, TX 77092, (713)419-6023.

It's been so many years since I've actually seen Stephen, but I'm sure he didn't change from that awesome young man I use to deal with when I was at Wilson Supply. We had so much fun together on a couple of fishing trips and he loved to entertain the group. I am in total shock. The Luedecke Family would like to extend our condolences to his wife, children, parents, sisters and all his extended family. May the Lord give you comfort during this unbearable time and provide only joyous memories of your loved one.

Thinking of all of you this week. So sorry to hear about Stephen. It has been years since we crossed paths, but I will always remember his laugh and kindness to me during our school years. You are all in my thoughts.

I don't even know where to start. I met Stephen and Steve in May 15th 1996, when I started working with them at TIFS/GMI in Humble Tx. Stephen and I became friends, good friends. He thought me a lot about the business. I moved over to Humble not knowing anyone. So he and I would drive around showing me where things were, then we would go back to his apartment and I would eat dinner with him and his family. I felt like I was at home with Stephen Lisa Reed and Grayson. Over the years we hunted together and traveled together, lord did we have great times. Stephen would give you the shirt off his back if one needed, I guess I was like a little brother to him, whenever he would buy a new knife or hat he would also buy one for me. He was that kind of person. I could go on and on but want to leave room for others...Heather and I prayers go out
to the Maness Family. Steve Sandy Lisa
Reed Grayson Shelby and Shea.
Love and Miss you Brother.

Stephen,

We grew up together as cousins and friends. We didn't stay in touch after I got out of the Army and moved to California. I'm sorry about that. I love you and I miss you already.

Stephen had the great Maness smile and infectious laugh! 8 1/2 years ago he brought Aidan to Ella's birthday party as Shea was unable to be there. What a loving Uncle and Brother to give up his time on a Saturday so she could be at the petting zoo in our yard! May you feel God's grace and strength today and in the days to come. Much Love to you all!
