Sue Schmidt Duchene, 83, formerly of Kingwood, TX, died on March 16, 2017 at White Oak Manor under Hospice Community Care in Rock Hill SC, surrounded by family. She was the only child born to Robert and Marie Pearl Schmidt on November 2, 1931 in Toledo, OH. She was married on November 26, 1955 to James L Duchene in Pittsburgh, PA. She lived in Toledo, OH, Butler, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, PA, Kingwood, TX and most recently Rock Hill, SC. She enjoyed playing golf, duplicate bridge, watching football, cooking, bird watching and gardening. She is survived by her children, James L Duchene Jr (Susan), Bruce E Duchene (Silvia), Timothy P Duchene (Kate), Marcia D Phillips (Andy), and Suzanne D Young (Dan) and her grandchildren Cara and Brad Duchene, Jaclyn, Scott, Danielle and Cole Duchene, Jake and Claire Duchene, Kelly Phillips, and Ryan McMichaels (Jessica) and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Elizabeth. She was predeceased by her husband James L Duchene Sr (September 16, 1995). A memorial service was held at Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill SC where she was a member on March 21, 2017. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at a graveside service to be held on May 6, 2017, in Pittsburgh, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Aviary, 700 Arch Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

So many fond memories of the Duchene family growing up. Klondikes. The smell of the garage in PA. Suzi and I growing up. You all were Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. Until I was grown didn't realize we weren't even related! Lots of love to all of you. What a great woman.
