Memories and Condolences

Not sure what to say?

Jacob popped into my mind today. I think about him often, whether it was on my baseball team (I remember him being the best pitcher and hitter on the Cardinals!) or if it was making music during high school times. The memories I have are nothing but good. I miss his antics and sense of humor the most.

June 27, 2009

Dear Jacob,
The one year anniversary of the accident comes today. This year has been difficult and yet you would be proud to see the strength and courage that your loved ones have shown. We do not know what tragedies will occur and yet we will face them as surely as the rising of the sun. God doesn't leave us alone but He knows we suffer. He sends angels to comfort us and help lift the burden.
Jacob, when I get to heaven and see you, will you let me know the answers to my many questions? You abide in peace and in His presence.
"He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection." Psalm 91:4

Elizabeth,
We are truly sorry for your loss, it is evident that Jacob was an outstanding young man and we regret not getting to know him. We share in Tom and Sharon's pain from an Uncle and Aunts point of view but cannot even imagine your pain from a parents view. I do know that my Sister has been getting through by trusting in God and leaning on him for comfort, we pray that he provides you and your family the same strength and grace that he has given them. Our thoughts and prayers remain with you and your family.

Elizabeth and family,
The pain that you feel in your heart can not be described. we can't always understand why things happen. we do not know why some people (even children) die and some live, but I do know that If we wake up in the morning and we are breathing then God meant fo us to live that day. no one can say how you feel, everyone's feelings are their own. There is sorrow and laughter, do not be afraid of the laughter - it feels good! Jacob was a wonderful young man. hold on to the memories and lean on the people who are surrounding you. I pray for your family to heal and to gain strength as you move through this darkness toward the light.
I do not know you but I do know your family Kathy Nordmeyer is my sisiter-in-law. Ben Petrzilka was my son.
Your family will always be in our prayers.

Elizabeth and family,

Michael and I have been watching the videos on youtube of Jacob and what a joy it was to see him enjoying life with his friends!!!!

I remember Jacob when he was on the same baseball team as my son. The curls made him unforgettable!!!!!

Hearing of the tragedy broke our hearts and made me realize that I needed to take even more time out for my kids.

There isn't much more that can be said but please know that we are so very sorry.

Seeing him laughing and having fun with his friends in the videos was proof to me that all a person needs is character to be truly an inspiration to so many. Jacob was a breath of fresh air to watch as his love for life and friends was shining so brightly!!!!!

What a blessing to have had Jacob as part of your lives, even if his stay seemed short. He will live long in all of your hearts!!! He simply touched mine even after all the years it's been since I've seen him.

prayers!!

Dearest Cousin Reid and Family,

I have no words, that I could possibly say in comfort, except that the bonds of family and love reach out to you over the miles, with this tragic loss. Reid, even though we see each other infrequently, you've always been my favorite cousin, so your sorrow is also mine. Just reading about Jacob, reminded me of a cousin I knew, "back in the day." Fun, loving, funny, wonderful to "hang out" with. Jacob sounds very much like you, at that age. I realize God has a plan for us all, but His ways are surely difficult to understand; especially when our children are taken before us. Please know that your California cousin has you in her thoughts and prayers, and we must trust the Lord, with this one.

With Love,

Rose Mary Hemmingsen Clemons

Grace Through the storm

When storms pound
Ministering angels surround
Uplifting, shepherding souls to Him
Elect angels are present as storms pound.
God is in us helping others,
God is present as mercy angels
Extend wings to lift our pain
Lifting Jacob, Skylar to be with Him.
Life is harsh. Life isn’t fair.
Broken but not defeated,
Stronger at the broken places after healing
Purified by the cauldron’s heat
Deepened by shared tears
We must pass through the healing.
Blinding sorrow is awakened in us
Joy slumbers nearby
A day is a thousand years
We wonder when we will feel better though never the same.
Ministering angels whispering God’s grace
Telling me Skylar and Jacob are
Safe, Whole and Sound.
Absent from the body, present with the Lord.
Ministering angels pour balm.
When storms pound
Ministering angels gather together to guide Jacob and Skylar
Two musicians added to the Seraphim
Oh, Heavenly hosts, armies of heaven
Minister to our grief so we can heal and
Be stronger at the broken places.

What a tragic loss. I was in St. Louis on Tuesday and was so sorry to hear this sad news. I can't remember a time when I saw Jake or talked with him that I didn't feel a sense of joy. His joyful loving spirit shone through him and infected many others. We talked about a group of us going to France and of making a video. He imagined adventures and good times. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time.

Family and friends of Jacob,
My condolences go out to you and yours. I am truly sorry for your loss. I did not know Jacob well, but I was fortunate to spend last years 4th of July with his family and him. I admit; it was rather boring until I seen Jacob out in the yard, just blasting away those bottle-rockets. I soon joined him and had a lot of fun.
So, I thank you Jacob for making my '07 4th a good one. I'll be thinking of you this 4th and I'll light a few for you!

June 29, 2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
