Michael Egbert Obituary
June 27, 1946 - April 23, 2024
Mike Egbert, age 77, passed away in Rancho Mirage, CA, after a brief illness. He was born in Pocatello, ID, to R. George and Carmen Egbert and was the third of nine children. He was raised in Pocatello and graduated from Highland High School in 1964. He attended Idaho state university, went on an LDS Mission in 1967 and was in the Idaho National Guard. He started to work for Union Pacific in 1964 and then in again in 1970. In 1975 he moved to Omaha with the railroad and held many positions until he retired in 2005. He married Patricia Rose on November 16, 1985 and made their home in Omaha.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Surviving family members are his wife, Patricia; daughters, Christy Darling, Ashley Egbert; and son, Adam (Bryanna) Egbert; and five sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, and one sister.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 1 to 3:30 p.m., at Grogan Residence, 16716 Elm Circle.
Memorials can be sent to Nebraska Humane Society or Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary.

I don´t know if anyone will read this or will care to. It might upset some people but I feel the need to say a little something about Mike (my stepdad). I hope he left this world knowing that he mattered to me. When Mike was in my life I´m pretty sure he would´ve rather have not had me in it. I was a troubled kid from a broken marriage. I wasn´t easy. I had issues and he came into my life when I was about 10 and was "Dad" to me for about 6 year there after. He was more of a Father to me than my own biological one ever was. For the most part he was kind and patient with me and lord knows I pushed some buttons. As a young teen I suppose I got into semi normal trouble and he would always remind me to think about the consequences of my actions. I can still hear him to this day. I hope he knew that I never forgot about him. I hope he knows that I actually turned out okay. I hope he realized that I loved him. I hope he would be proud of the daughter, woman and Mother became despite the odds.

Mike was intelligent and personable. I enjoyed working with Mike because he always added value to any project t and was always respectful and friendly. My condolences to Patty and family.

I worked for Mike while at Union Pacific. Of all the bosses I had, Mike was the best - a great guy who ran an efficient department and treated his employees very well. He inspired us to excel. May he rest in peace.
