William Dillon Obituary

William Bryan Dillon III

August 19, 1950 - September 27, 2024

Bill Dillon, of New Plymouth, Idaho, age 74, passed quietly, with his sister by his side, on September 27, 2024.

A MEMORIAL SERVICE is planned for Friday, October 25th, at 4 p.m., at Flahiff Chapel, located at 624 Cleveland Blvd., Caldwell, ID 83605. An Irish-style wake at his Farm will follow.

Bill is survived by his sister, Cathy Parrish; and by his brothers, Denny Dillon and Richard Dillon; as well as brothers-in-law, Ed and Cliph Hollaway. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nisha; parents, Bill and Peg Dillon; and his brother, John Dillon.

Bill and Nisha raised many Bird Dogs. As owners of Black Canyon Kennels, they had pups that were sold all over the USA. Bill left 3 dogs, Kate, Sox, and Shorty.

Bill graduated from Nebraska University of Law. He moved directly to Idaho to pursue law and his love of hunting and fishing. He was very active in Navda, Sporting clays, Bird Hunting. He loved fly fishing in the summers and spent time in the Idaho Fly Fishing Association. He was an avid fly tying, and rod-building enthusiast. He also loved to return to Nebraska to deer and pheasant hunt with lifelong buddies. Bill was active and a successful Sporting clays and skeet shooter.

After moving to Idaho, Bill and Nisha met at Albertson's after he worked up the nerve to ask her out. They formed a lifelong friendship and a love that lasted through the ages. They loved the rivers of Idaho, where they camped, fished, and enjoyed time with many friends.

Bill earned his living as a deputy county prosecutor, Attorney for the Idaho Game and Parks, but most people know him as Judge Dillon. Bill served the state of Idaho as a Judge for many years until he permanently retired in 2022. He worked most in Payette and Canyon counties. Bill enjoyed being able to marry couples as a judge and did many in his career.

It sounds like Bill rocked his best life! A farm, a prestigious career in justice, a great wife & of course a life with bird dogs! That must've been some great life.
There were some people in high school that were never "up front" because it wasnt important to him, but we know now that he indeed did have a plan! God speed to you Bill.

I have great memories of Bill and his family during time spent at their river cabin south of Gretna. At an early age Bill was never happier than when he had a rod or gun in his hand. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I worked with Bill and became very good friends with he and Nisha - they helped me through some pretty rough times as a single parent and still and forever in my heart!

Judge Dillon was one of my favorite judges when I was a juvenile probation officer in Canyon County in the 1990's. He was thoughtful and concerned with the welfare of the kids who came before him. He will be very much missed.
