Andrew MEREY Obituary

MEREY, Andrew G.
We lost our beloved Andrew G. Merey on March 15, 2015, after a valiant 28-year struggle with a spinal cord tumor and its symptom of unspeakable pain. He is survived by his beloved wife, Brigitte, who faithfully stood by his side through incredible challenges, by daughter, Mikala, and son, Alec. He is likewise survived by his loving parents, Drs. John and Daisy Merey, his in-laws, Claude and Marcelle Uson and by sister DeAnne Merey. He will be missed by his godchild, Asha Roy, large extended family, and countless friends. Andrew was born in New York City October 9, 1970 and moved, at age one, to Palm Beach. He attended Palm Beach Public School and was a member of the last graduating class of Twin Lakes High School in 1988. Andrew attended college at Columbia University where he graduated from the School of Engineering with a major in Computer Science. He was a member of Zeta Psi fraternity. His first job after college was as assistant to Mr. B.J. Harris, a prominent investor in Palm Beach. He, then, established his own investment advisory firm, AGM Management. Life was not easy for Andrew with neurologic pain that only increased through the years. Despite these challenges, Andrew was a beacon of positivity and never let his fate get him down. He was the model family man with unending love for his wife and two children. He gave advice to all who sought it even though his own problems were a thousand times worse than theirs. He always had a huge smile and big heart that anyone could see in an instant. He was the best friend of many but especially to: Cary Hall, Lawrence Klayman, Alan Pariser, Joe Robinson and Dave Roy. Everyone will miss Andrew's smiling face, his good nature and his boundless love for family and friends. Funeral services will be held at Temple Beth El, 2815 North Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, on Monday March 16th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions, in his memory, may be made to Hospice of the Palm Beaches (Trustbridge).

Dear Brigitte, Mikala, Alec and family, I just moved back to Florida and heard of your tremendous loss. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Andrew's passing. I will never forget the great love and dedication so very evident between Andrew and Brigitte. I did not know Andrew well but his spirit was so bright and warm that he made an indelible impression on me. My love to you all.

Andrew was the bravest person we ever met. He focused on making the best of his situation and didn't let it define him. He was friendly, personable and a joy to be with. We share your grief Dr. Daisy Merey and family.

He was always kind of "in the background"... consoling, kind, a true friend, never taking sides, encouraging, very smart & most importantly smiling. After 27 years, I remember him & all of the times we shared. To his entire family, I extend my love & prayers. As a mother of 4, I pray that his parents find solace. God bless.

Dear Merey Family,
Our family cannot possibly express the depth of our sympathy and compassion for you in this time of loss. Andrew was a man who demonstrated an incredible strength of will which allowed him to persevere through years of hardship, and that hardship also bred within him a deep and moving wisdom that was far beyond his years. The determination with which he sought to live his life to the fullest was, and always will be, an inspiration.

We will remember him fondly, as a person who absolutely savoured every moment of his life, and sought not to waste his time, but to live it to the fullest.
You are in our thoughts,
Brittany Koehler, on behalf of the Koehler Family
