Benjamin Buchanan Obituary

Funeral services for Benjamin Joseph Buchanan, 73, of Livingston, Texas, will be Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Gary Hillyard and Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery in Centerville, Texas. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Buchanan was born June 25, 1947 in Houston, Texas to parents, Garland Buchanan and Margaret (Phillips) Buchanan and passed away March 20, 2021 in Livingston, Texas. During his life, he was the past Fire Chief of the Needham Fire Department and an instructor at the Livingston Area Fire School. Mr. Buchanan was the Chief Building Inspector for the City of Conroe for 32 & 1/2 years and a building official for Oak Ridge North and also for the City of Livingston. He served as a Reserve Deputy Constable Pct. #2 for Montgomery County, a member of the Trinity Masonic Lodge #14 AF & AM and a deacon at the Beacon Bay Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Vanita (Alston) Buchanan of Livingston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Christy Buchanan and Matthew Christiansen of Conroe, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott Buchanan and Colette of Conroe, Texas, Robert Jenkins and Crystal of Galveston, Texas and Christopher Goff of Odessa, Texas; daughter, Rachel Buchanan of Conroe, Texas; grandchildren, Shayne Wheeler, Wyatt Petty, Caleigh Buchanan, Hannah Christiansen, Abi Jenkins, Connor Buchanan, and Sadie Jenkins; sisters, Virginia Tope of Kosse, Texas and Jo Ann Holleman of Huntsville, Texas, sister and brother-in-law, Jackie Middlebrooks and James of Huntsville, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Daryl Alston and Denise of Centerville, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriner's Hospital.
