Edna Jean Hill Corbett Mantooth

Edna Jean Hill Corbett Mantooth, 94, a resident of Pearland, TX passed away February 3, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. Edna was born in Lexington, NC on June 3, 1927. She attended Church of Christ Ebenezer Baptist Church in Hillsborough, NC. Edna "Jean" graduated as Valedictorian and received her diploma from Welcome High School in Davidson County in 1941. She later attended Business College in Winston, Salem. Edna "Jean" was married to George Ira Corbett, MSG US ARMY from August 20th, 1946, to April 27th, 1970. During their 23 years of marriage, "Jean" and George had four children. Edna "Jean" remarried on May 1st, 1970, to Edwin "Ed" Lee Mantooth, Jr., PFC US ARMY. Edna Jean remained married to "Ed" for 21 years until his passing on November 30th, 1991. She lived in the Harris County area during most of her adult life. Edna "Jean" retired from HL&P after seventeen loyal years as a Customer Service Representative. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She had two fur babies, Wrinkles and Hurley, whom she loved like children. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, America's Funniest Videos, Animal Planet, and the Hallmark channel. She enjoyed old westerns and murder mysteries. She enjoyed watching the news and politics. She was the biggest Houston Astros fan. She knew all of the players' names and refused to miss a game. She also loved working crossword puzzles. She loved God, her family, and her country. She loved all of her grandchildren and made it a point to make sure they felt special and loved. Whenever they would leave after visiting her, she would say, "See you later alligator!" They loved to reply back, "After a while crocodile!" She could always make you smile. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sincerely missed.

Edna Jean Hill Corbett Mantooth is preceded in death by her parents, Grady Franklin Hill and Florence Edna Berrier Hill; her 1st husband, George Ira Corbett and her 2nd husband Edwin "Ed" Lee Mantooth, Jr.; oldest grandson, Michael Wayne Hext.

She leaves behind her daughter, Teresa "Terry" Ann Corbett Hext, husband Howard "Chris" Hext; sons: George "Dean" Corbett, best friend Ruth "Ruthie" Georgetta Farhat; Michael Steven Corbett, wife Jennifer Woodberry La Duca, and David Anthony "Tony" Corbett, wife Cindy Lou Hayman Corbett; sister, Laura "Sue" Hill Smith, husband Joseph "Nolan" Smith; brother, Franklin "Randall" Hill, wife Martha Ann Hill; grandchildren: David Chris Hext, wife Michelle Beasley Hext, George Leon Corbett, wife Jennifer Carroll Corbett, Erin Marie Corbett, Elliana "Elle" Tenaya Corbett Dominguez, husband Juan Dominguez, April Nicole Corbett Lucero, husband David Alan Lucero, Michael Anthony Corbett, wife Mechelle Corbett Peteros, Cristina "Crissy" Lyn Corbett, husband Jeremy Michael Corbett, Amy Michelle Corbett Simpson, husband Nathaniel "Nate" Wayne Simpson, Stephen Matthew Corbett, Fiancé Candy Tope, Bryan Andrew Corbett, Timothy Paul Farhat, wife Heidi Alice Farhat, and Shanda Ruth Farhat; great grandchildren: Bailey Elizabeth Hext Chwaliszewski, husband Jesse Warden Chwaliszewski, Hayden Michael Hext, Tarek Alexander Guzman, Noah Xavier Guzman, Madeleine Grace Dominguez, Sofia Lynn Dominguez, Lucas Reid Dominguez, Kim Levan Peteros, Cole Alexander Lucero, Bella Nicole Lucero, Eva Faith Lucero, Emily Nicole Corbett, Oliver Grey "Ollie" Corbett, Amelia "Mia" Francis Corbett, Charlee Grace Simpson, Embree Mae Simpson, Rylee Grae Simpson, Ryder Matthew Corbett, Bryn Lee Corbett, Sunshine Estrella Rodriguez Corbett, Citlaly Flor Rodriguez Corbett, Cash Anthony Corbett, Colton Thomas Joyce, Addisyn Kimberly Joyce, Presley Ann Jones, Molly Elizabeth Pittman, and Lucas David Dods .

There will be a visitation from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022, in the chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Pearland with a service to begin at 6 p.m. Edna "Jean" will be laid to rest beside her husband, "Ed" on February 15th, 2022, at Houston National Cemetery at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, 77038.
