Harmon Rayford Sorge died peacefully in his home Sunday, June 23, 2013 in Pasadena, Texas at the age of 96. Born May 11, 1917 in Winnsboro, Texas to John Houston and Cora Lee Sorge. He graduated from Pittsburg High School May 29, 1936 and enjoyed playing high school football for the Pittsburg Pirates. Harmon retired from Champion Paper Mill in 1979. Harmon became a past master in 1960 of Pasadena Lodge No. 1155. He also was a 50+ member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 711. Harmon was also a Royal & Select Master for more than 60 years of the Pasadena Council No. 374. He was also a Royal Arch Mason for more than 60 years of the Pasadena Chapter No. 455. Harmon was a member in good standing of a Commandery of Knights Templar for a period of more than fifty years of the Park Place Commandery No. 106. He achieved 33rd degree in the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Freemasonry for the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States. He was also a knight companion of Red Cross of Constatine. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In his younger days he enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Julia. He is preceded in death by his wife Julia Florence Sorge, his brother Charles Sorge and sister-in-law Betty Sorge and sister Dolly Brennan. He is survived by sons John and wife Lynn, and Robert and wife Debbie grandchildren Julia, Leigh Ann, Jennifer and Charles Swindoll, Robert Jr. and wife Kim, Garrett and Chelsea; four great grandchildren.
