J.D. "Mike" Johnson, 85, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Edna Johnson; one brother and five sisters. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, "his doll", Bobbye Johnson; sons, Rene Johnson and wife, Tanya, Marcus Winder; daughters, Jackie Richison and husband, Blaine, Michelle Tharp; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Mike loved his Louisiana roots, and his chicken and sausage gumbo. He was an excellent provider for his family and had a successful career on the railroad for more than 33 years. Mike was an active member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge and the AARP in Pasadena. His involvement in the community also extended to the H2U organization at Clear Lake Regional Hospital. Mike enjoyed reading, dancing, traveling with Bobbye, and smoking his pipe. He was strong in his faith as a devout Catholic and read his Bible twice a day. Mike will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A visitation and Celebration of Life service for Mike will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and the service will follow at 2:00 pm with Father Wayne Wilkerson and Pastor Don Pope officiating. A graveside service will take place Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Ashford Cemetery in Eunice, Louisiana.
