Joseph Hately Lowry was born February 4, 1928, in Lufkin, Texas to the late John Hately and Bertha Lorene Lowry. He left this world December 22, 2014, to forever be with his Lord and Savior "Jesus Christ" after a short stay at St. Luke's PMC, Pasadena, Texas.
Joe graduated from Lufkin High School in 1946 and attended both Lon Morris College and Stephen F. Austin State University before joining the Lowry family meat market in Lufkin. He continued the family butchering profession until his 1989 retirement. Joe married Lois Faye Hill in March of 1949. They had three children; Gary Michael, Sharon Denise, and Donna Ann.
Joe married Lee Lingo in 1974, after the 1971 death of Lois Faye. Joe and Lee lived in Deer Park, Texas the remainder of their lives. He was a member of First Christian Church, Pasadena Texas.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, J. Hately and Lorene Lowry, wives, Lois Faye Hill Lowery and Lee Lingo Lowry and great grandson, Caleb Mitchell Cariker.
He is survived by his son Gary and wife Barbara, daughters, Sharon Street and Bill Braastad, Donna Cariker and step daughter Sharon Archambault; grandsons, Paul Street and wife Stacy, Mark Lowry, Michael Street and wife Jessica, Bryan Bell; and great grandchildren Jayden Bell and Shelby Street and his one remaining aunt, Mary Packer of Houston.
He also leaves a host of friends, including his best friend Roger Williams.
