Opal Denny, 87, passed away at her home in Deer Park, Texas on Saturday, December 28, 2013.
Opal was born February 21, 1926 in Rusk, Texas to the late Robert and Bettie Traylor. Mrs. Denny was a long time resident of Deer Park and a member of First Baptist Church of Deer Park since 1977 where she was extremely active and served on various committees throughout the years. Opal enjoyed volunteering in her community, in particular at San Jacinto Manor. She was a doll maker, seamstress, a huge animal lover and great decorator. She cherished her husband Harold, who was the love of her life. She traveled extensively and one of her favorite spots to visit was the Lake of the Pines. In addition, Opal deeply loved her family and would often organize family reunions once a year. She was a very special person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Opal is preceded in death by her Husband, Harold, who passed away on September 17, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Karen Swain and her husband Carl, Ron Troublefield and his wife Linda, Tom Denny and his wife Debbie, and Karen Ballard and her husband David; grandchildren, Vince Troublefield, Shelly Meredith, Dwight Blaskowsky, Jeff Troublefield, William, Jason, and James Denny, Dakota Watkins, Blake and Sabrina Ballard; seven great-grandchildren; and cats, El Gato and BeBe.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM at Grand View Funeral Home on Monday, December 30, 2013. Funeral Services will follow on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Deer Park, 438 East 8th Street, Deer Park, Texas 77536. A brief reception will follow the service at the church. The Committal Ceremony will take place at 1:30 PM at Grand View Memorial Park. An escorted cortege will depart from the church at 1:15 PM.
