Ruby Eugenia Strand passed away September 19, 2011 at the age of 86. Ruby was a gentle and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born June 20, 1925 in Richards, Grimes County Texas to Allen Hendricks Maywald and Annie Eugenia Travis.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Ella Horton and brother Henry Darson Maywald. She is survived by her husband of 69 years Jimmie Franklin Strand; daughters Beverly Ann Gerfers and husband John, Sherra Suzanne Nystrom and son Jimmie Fredrick Strand and wife Melanie; grandchildren Chandra Ustick, Lindy Berry, Amber Thames, Jonathan Strand and Olivia Strand; great grandchildren Andrea Ustick, Ashley Ustick, Summer Thames and Kelsey Berry and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

I have such great memories of Mrs Strand when I was a teenager working at the Candlewick! Such a nice woman! Condolences to Beverly, Johnny, Sherra, and Jimmy, and, of course, Mr Strand. My thoughts are with you.
